Philanthropy has been the lifeblood of community throughout many generations. Mia Matthews is no stranger to assisting in philanthropic activities by providing of her talents, her time and her resources. As such, Mia has played in pivotal roles as chairperson for several high profile events. She is always eager to combine her love of performing with philanthropy. Mia has performed at numerous fundraisers including Palm Beach Dramaworks, Lighthouse Arts Center, FoundCare, Palm Beach Theater Guild, The Plaza Theater, and The Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.
Mia has been honored for her commitment by being chosen as one of Palm Beach Illustrated’s “Muses: Women of Style and Substance” and was featured on the cover of The Palm Beacher magazine’s “Who’s Who is Charity and the Arts.” Mia was also a nominee for the prestigious “Women in Leadership” Award and is a proud 2008 graduate of Leadership Palm Beach County. She is co-founder of the Matthews Family Foundation- an organization whose mission is a commitment towards an improved society and empowered community.

The Parent-Child Center, a member of the Community Partnership Group, celebrated its second annual cocktail fundraiser, The Chairman’s Club, at the Palm Beach home of Mia and Bob Matthews. The event raised $18,000 to serve Palm Beach county children.
Bob and Mia Matthews opened their Palm Beach Island home to host the Chairman’s Club, the Community Partnership Group’s second annual fundraiser to benefit the Parent-Child Center. Guests gathered to hear the story of Ms. Istria Duran, who shared her personal testimony of how the Parent-Child Center’s Triple P program helped change her life and that of her young daughter. A year ago she was in danger of losing her daughter, was homeless, and in need of intervention. Today she is successfully housed, enrolled in state college, and is enjoying a very positive relationship with her daughter.

Mia Matthews discovered MCB last season. “I didn’t realize what a presence they have in Palm Beach County. I was happily surprised to discover they are a world-class company. I had heard about their reputation, but when I saw them perform, I realized this is for real.
